CSS25 - We recommend you use this Chainsaw Sharpener for sharpening your Chainsaw chain.

What is this petrol chainsaw used for?

This petrol chainsaw is s perfect for smaller cutting jobs such as trimming and pruning branches. The chainsaw can also be used for limbing (Limbing is the process of removing the branches from a fallen tree) and bucking (Bucking is cutting a log into lengths for easier handling)

Is the product ready to use?

No, approx 15 minutes of assembly is required which includes fitting the bucking spikes, and installing the guide bar and chain.  Also make sure you fill the fuel and oil tanks respectively and tighten the caps securely.

How do I check the oil supply?

Run the engine at medium speed and check that the chain splatters a thin line of oil which can be  seen on the ground when the bar is pointed downwards. This is normal. If there is no line of chain oil, stop the motor immediately and investigate the cause. The oil tank could be empty or the oil supply to the chain blocked. This may require removal of the bar and checking that the upper oil hole in the bar is clear of any blockages.

What is the chain brake for?

The chain brake operates automatically in the event of kickback. As the guide bar kicks up, the wrist of the operator’s hand on the top handle knocks against the front guard causing the front guard to move forward and activating the chain brake.

How often do I need to sharpen the chain?

Sharpen the chain regularly to maintain optimum performance of the saw. Signs of a dull chain are:

• The sawdust becomes powder-like

• Extra force is required to execute a cut

• The cut does not track in a straight line

• Increased vibration

• Increased fuel consumption

You can purchase the 909 CSS25 85W Chainsaw Chain Sharpener to perform this task

Can I change the spark plugs for this chainsaw?

Yes, regularly check the spark plug for wear and any build up of carbon on the electrodes, and refer to the instruction manual for directions on how to change.  The following spark plugs can be used on this model:  L8RTF, Alt Bosch WSR6A, NKG BPMR7A

What is the maximum size branch I can cut?

The 12” bar and blade will allow you to cut 150mm-180mm in diameter of green timber.

Can I get a replacement bar and/or chain for my pruning chainsaw?

What maintenance/cleaning is required for the petrol chainsaw for increased user life?

Follow these simple tips to maintain your petrol chainsaw:

Note. Before cleaning your chainsaw or carrying out any maintenance procedure, make sure that the engine is off and is cool. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.

Maintenance to be performed after each use:

Remove and clean the air filter (refer to instruction manual for further detail)

Take off the guide bar  and remove any sawdust from the groove in the guide bar.

Make sure that the oil port is not clogged. Grease the nose sprocket at the tip of the guide bar.

Check for fuel and oil leakage and loose fastenings, especially those securing the handles and the guide bar.

Clean any dust away from the cooling vents as clogged vents can cause overheating.

Additionally,  be aware of guide bar wear. Reverse the guide bar every 8 working hours to ensure uniform wear. Check the bar rails frequently and if necessary remove burrs and square-up the rails using a flat file.
