What is this petrol edger used for?

This petrol edger is used for edging, landscaping and trenching .  It is ideal for edging along curved garden beds and cultivating a trench useful for laying outdoor garden cables

Is the product ready to use?

No, approx 5 minutes of assembly is required which includes inserting the shaft,  adjusting the Telescope handle, and attaching the auxiliary handle.

How do I “run in the engine”?

During the first ten hours of work, run the engine at a moderate RPM.  We advise you in any case not to maintain your engine at a high speed as the different components must settle with each other during the process of running in the engine.  It is at the end of the running in period that the engine will reach its maximum power. After the first two hours of work, stop and make sure that all nuts and screws are securely fastened, and tighten them if necessary.

How many cutting depths does the Edger have?

The edger has 3 different cutting depths  - 10mm, 20mm and 30mm.  To adjust the cutting depth, use the Height adjustment knob and follow the directions in the instruction manual.

What is the edge guide?

The edge guide is used when edging is required against a solid material like a paved surface. It is important to ensure the edge guide is used in these conditions as the edge guide will assist in preventing the blade from making direct contact with the paved surface.

How do I use the edger for Landscaping and Trenching?

Before landscaping or trenching, inspect and ensure there are no exposed or buried cables or pipes or other objects that may create a hazard or interfere with operating the edger. Lift the edge guide lever  for all trenching. Set depth to only that required for the job, do not overload, if tool slows, pull back slightly and wait until the blade returns to normal speed.

Can I change the blade myself?

Yes, refer to the instruction manual for directions

Does the blade go blunt?

If you are using the edger continuously along hard surfaces such as concrete, the serrated edges of the blade will wear.  When the blade gets too worn it is best to replace it to ensure optimum performance.  Avoid butting directly into concrete surfaces for longer blade life

Can I replace the spark plugs?

Yes, replace any damaged or visibly worn plug with NGK BM4A, CHAMPION CJ14, DENSO, W14M-U10, BOSCH WS8E or equivalent spark plug and follow the directions in the instruction manual

What maintenance/cleaning is required for the petrol edger for increased user life?

Follow these simple tips to maintain your petrol edger:

1. Check the spark plug every 10–15 hours of use.

2. The air filter should be checked approximately every 10 hours of use, or more frequently in dusty areas.

3. It is recommended once you first use your petrol edger have it serviced after 15 hours of use. Thereafter, service the petrol blower every 2 years.

4. When you finish working, clean the petrol edger completely, making sure there is no grass or dirt wrapped in the cutting tools, and put it back into its package in order to avoid its hurting you or other people during transport.

5. Be aware to not hit or cut the fuel tank if you put it onto the ground.

6. Store the petrol edger away from direct sunlight.

7. Do not store in a nylon bag as this can encourage the formation of mould.

8.  At the end of the season, give the petrol edger an overall cleaning and a thorough check.
